Welcome to the NSWICC Aboriginal Business Portal
The NSWICC Aboriginal Business Portal is the new system for finding Aboriginal suppliers in New South Wales.
Under the NSW Procurement Policy, NSW Government Agencies are able to purchase directly from Aboriginal Suppliers that meet the criteria for an Aboriginal Business as defined by the NSWICC and which are a member of the NSWICC and or a Supply Nation Certified Supplier.
The Portal links private and public sector procurers with certified Aboriginal suppliers through an easy to use interactive database. The Site provides business profiles, capabilities and contact details for Aboriginal businesses in your area and across the state.
The Portal is an initiative under OCHRE (Opportunity, Choice, Healing, Responsibility and Empowerment) which is the Government's plan for Aboriginal affairs in NSW. OCHRE contains initiatives which focus on education, language and culture, Aboriginal participation in decision making, accountability and economic development. To view OCHRE click here.
Economic development was included as a core component of OCHRE in recognition of its importance in increasing health, social and financial outcomes for Aboriginal people. It provides a mandate to support Aboriginal people to realise their economic aspirations, by developing sustainable employment and by building Aboriginal communities' economic and entrepreneurial capacity.
The use of Aboriginal suppliers is a great way to increase Aboriginal employment and to grow local Aboriginal Businesses in your area.
The Portal is a joint initiative between the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce the Office of Finance and Services and the Department of Education and Communities - Aboriginal Affairs.
