NSWICC CEO Deb Barwick and our team were proud to attend Yambamanjang: The NSW Closing the Gap Gathering 2026 on Kameygal Country. Meaning 'to come together' in Dharawal, the gathering truly lived up to its name - bringing Elders, community leadership, Aboriginal Affairs NSW, NSW Treasury and peak bodies into one space to share insights, strengthen partnerships and progress vital reforms.

A major highlight was Deb taking the stage as a panellist for the Priority Reform 5 breakout session: Closing the Gap through Aboriginal Business Growth. Alongside Phillip Usher (NSW Aboriginal Business Taskforce) and Shannon Mallison (Yarpa Hub), and guided by Natalie Ahmat, the panel engaged in a robust and forward-focused discussion. A key message Deb shared - one that cannot be overstated - is that Priority Reform 5 is not a standalone reform. It is the economic engine that powers every other Priority Reform area.
