Deepening grassroots connections and supporting community-led education remain at the very heart of the New South Wales Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (NSWICC) mission. Recently, NSWICC CEO Deb Barwick and Program Support Officer Ella Dryburgh had the distinct privilege of visiting the historic grounds of the Tranby Aboriginal Co-operative in Sydney. This visit marked an important step in strengthening relationships with one of Australia’s pioneer Aboriginal adult education providers, exploring fresh avenues for mutual support and strategic collaboration.

The NSWICC team received a exceptionally warm welcome onto the beautiful, heritage-rich Tranby campus. A highlight of the visit was an exclusive preview of the soon-to-open showroom of Welcome to Country, a proud NSWICC Assured Member. The showroom promises to be a vibrant, dynamic space that celebrates First Nations artistry, tourism, and cultural experiences, offering a marketplace that connects genuine Indigenous creators directly with wider consumer and corporate audiences.

The visit provided a wonderful space to share conversations, exchange ideas, and discuss future opportunities. The discussions focused heavily on how NSWICC and Tranby can work together to support and strengthen Aboriginal businesses, enhance First Nations adult education, and champion community-led economic initiatives. By aligning educational pathways with business development, both organisations aim to empower the next generation of Aboriginal entrepreneurs and professionals.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Tranby team for their generous hospitality, inspiring conversations, and the profound, life-changing work they continue to deliver for the community. NSWICC looks forward to a close and fruitful relationship with both Tranby and Welcome to Country as we walk together towards shared prosperity.
