On 22 September, NSWICC proudly marked 20 years of championing Indigenous business with a day of reflection, connection and celebration at NSW Parliament House and Cadi Jam Ora, Royal Botanic Garden Sydney. Held under the campaign platform First for Indigenous Business. Rise. Lead. Grow., the milestone brought together NSWICC Members, Partner Organisations, Indigenous business leaders, government, industry, parliamentarians, community and long-standing supporters of the Chamber.
The anniversary breakfast at NSW Parliament House recognised two decades of advocacy, enterprise and opportunity. Through anniversary storytelling, speakers and a panel discussion, guests reflected on the practical difference NSWICC has made by supporting Indigenous businesses to build visibility, capability, connections and opportunity.
Jeremy Donovan, one of NSWICC’s original Board members, opened the breakfast with an Acknowledgement of Country. NSWICC Deputy Chair and Founder and Director of The Gaimaragal Group, Susan Moylan-Coombs, guided the programme as MC.
The panel brought together Narelle Anderson, NSWICC Chair and Founder and Director of Envirobank; Dany Lester, Executive Director at NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure; and Corey Dotti, Managing Director of Dotbuild Constructions. Their reflections highlighted the practical impact of NSWICC on their organisations, communities and the wider Indigenous business sector. The Hon. David Harris MP, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Treaty, also joined NSWICC in marking the milestone and recognising the Chamber’s sustained leadership.

The day concluded at Cadi Jam Ora at Royal Botanic Garden Sydney with the unveiling of the NSWICC 20th Anniversary Commemorative Bench. The bench is a lasting public marker of the people, enterprises and partnerships that have shaped the Chamber’s journey since 2006, and a reminder of the work still ahead to support Indigenous businesses to lead, grow and thrive.
At Cadi Jam Ora, Charles Madden of Metro Local Aboriginal Land Council welcomed guests to Country before the bench was unveiled. The moment created space to reflect on the journey so far and the continuing importance of Indigenous business in creating jobs, building capability and strengthening communities.
The celebration was made even more meaningful through the generosity of NSWICC Members. NSWICC Assured Member Muru Mittigar provided native seedlings as a gift for every attendee, while fellow NSWICC Member Kallico Catering shared native-infused cookies with guests at the gardens. These thoughtful contributions reflected the connection, care and shared purpose at the heart of the NSWICC community.
The anniversary was also reflected across the NSWICC community, with Members, Partner Organisations, businesses and supporters sharing their recognition of the Chamber’s advocacy, guidance and long-term impact. SBS NITV Radio featured NSWICC’s 20th anniversary, with NSWICC Founder and CEO Deb Barwick, Steven Adams of Mara Ba Kumba and Andrew Malloch from Bara Barang reflecting on the Chamber’s journey and the continuing potential of Indigenous business.
The Indigenous Business Review also spoke with Deb Barwick and Indigenous business owner Jeremy Donovan at the NSW Parliament House breakfast, reflecting on NSWICC’s key milestones, achievements and continuing impact on the Indigenous business community.
