On 10 September NSWICC was on Gamilaroi Country in Tamworth for Gather and Grow, joining Indigenous business owners, industry leaders and government representatives for a day centred on the theme Foundations of Tomorrow.
CEO Deb Barwick and General Manager Rick Hughes joined conversations designed to connect Indigenous businesses directly with government buyers, procurement pathways and supply chain opportunities. The event reflected the value of bringing businesses, government and industry together in a setting focused on practical connection, learning and long-term opportunity.
The programme included keynote addresses from The Hon. David Harris MP, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Treaty, and Phil Usher, Co-Chair of the NSW Aboriginal Business Taskforce. A panel featuring NSW Small Business Commissioner Kalina Koloff, NSW Treasury Deputy Secretary Michael Gadiel and Craig Jenkins, Acting Executive Director at the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, also explored regional growth and opportunity.
Gather and Grow is NSW Treasury’s engagement series for the First Nations business sector. It creates space for businesses to build relationships with government buyers, learn more about procurement and explore future opportunities across NSW.
