Buying on Country
Buying on Country is a NSWICC initiative designed to strengthen Indigenous economic participation through a united approach to procurement, partnerships and capability uplift programs for buyers and suppliers. At its core, the initiative aims to create lasting impact by increasing opportunities for Indigenous businesses across NSW to participate in and benefit from government and private sector supply chains.
We offer a range of programs under our Buying on Country banner, see more below.

Equitable Procurement Practices
This program is designed to enhance understanding and maximise the effective application of the NSW Government’s Aboriginal Procurement Policy (APP). We support government agencies and organisations to develop and embed procurement practices that are inclusive of, and equitable for, Aboriginal businesses.
The initiative also aims to safeguard the integrity of Indigenous procurement by addressing and eliminating the risks associated with engaging black-clad businesses within government and industry supply chains.

Closing the Gap with Local Government
NSWICC works directly with local governments to:
Build organisational capability to attract and engage certified Indigenous suppliers, transform procurement policies and practices to drive sustainable outcomes and create long-term relationships with Indigenous businesses and communities.
Equip Indigenous businesses with the tools, knowledge and connections to engage with local government procurement opportunities across NSW.

Connecting Indigenous Business
The NSWICC Connecting Indigenous Business program aims to foster growth and visibility of Indigenous-owned businesses by enhancing connections to buyers and building capacity through capability building and support.
Three portals have been built to facilitate capability building and networking opportunities.
