Our Advocacy

Walking Together. Building Solid Foundations. Closing the Gap.

Since the establishment as Australia’s first Indigenous Chamber of Commerce in 2006, the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (NSWICC) has led advocacy that puts Indigenous economic participation at the heart of structural change.

As the Peak Body for Indigenous Business in NSW, we have proudly championed Indigenous entrepreneurship and self-determination through our work with governments, industry and community leaders. Our approach nurtures Indigenous business development from the ground up - mentoring and enabling Indigenous entrepreneurs, supporting enterprising communities and accelerating growth through culturally appropriate programs and policies.

NSWICC’s advocacy is grounded in lived experience and driven by the voices of the businesses and communities we represent. We work at all levels of government and industry to ensure that policies intended to support Indigenous participation are designed, informed and led by Indigenous people.

We are a strong advocate for:

  • A regulated and transparent approach to the certification of Indigenous businesses
  • Fair and inclusive implementation of procurement policies
  • Stronger partnerships between Indigenous businesses and major buyers
  • Culturally safe and responsive contracting environments

Our belief is simple: no single sector or stakeholder can close the gap alone. Real outcomes require government, industry, the not-for-profit sector and Indigenous leadership to walk together in shared commitment and coordinated action.
