NSWICC recently joined NSW Treasury's Gather and Grow Expo at Club Taree on Biripi Country, represented by Lead Business Development Manager Rick Hughes.
Gather and Grow brings Indigenous businesses together with NSW Government and industry buyers to explore practical pathways to opportunity. The events create space for supplier showcases, structured networking and conversations about upcoming tenders, subcontracting work and supply chain opportunities.
For Indigenous businesses, these conversations are an important opportunity to meet prospective buyers, gain clearer insight into the work ahead and build relationships that can lead to sustainable growth.
One project highlighted during the Taree event was the Manning Hospital Redevelopment, Stage 3. For businesses operating in construction and related trades, the session provided a timely opportunity to learn about upcoming work and connect with the organisations involved.
The event reinforced a simple but important message: genuine economic participation begins with connection. When Indigenous businesses have access to clear information, can meet buyers face to face, and are given the opportunity to demonstrate their capability, a stronger foundation is created for long term commercial opportunity and community benefit.
