On Thursday 7 May, NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (NSWICC) representatives Josiah Younes and Rebecca Ryan attended the Turner & Townsend Reconciliation Roundtable at the company’s Sydney office, joining leaders from Turner & Townsend, Microsoft, National Intermodal, CBRE and Indigeco Pty Ltd.
The roundtable brought together organisations committed to exploring how reconciliation can be embedded meaningfully across project delivery, procurement, partnerships and workforce pathways. Discussions focused on the practical steps organisations can take to create stronger and more sustainable outcomes for Indigenous businesses and communities.
Participants highlighted the positive impact that genuine engagement and procurement opportunities can have for Indigenous businesses, while also recognising the importance of continued collaboration to strengthen education and employment pathways, contractor capability and long-term community outcomes.
A key outcome from the discussion was the shared intention to establish an Industry Working Group focused on strengthening Indigenous business participation and supplier engagement in more meaningful and sustainable ways.
NSWICC also acknowledges and thanks Matt Atkins from Plate Hospitality Group, a valued NSWICC member, for providing exceptional catering featuring sustainably sourced native Australian ingredients.
We thank everyone involved in the discussion and collaboration, including Therese Nitenius, Alana Newbrook, Murray Johnstone, Simon Hunt, Rowan Arndt, Giles Curtin (MCIPS), Lisa Kavanagh, Greg Barnes and Sarah Calci.
Through conversations like these, NSWICC continues to advocate for stronger partnerships, greater supplier diversity and practical pathways that support long-term economic participation and growth for Indigenous businesses.
