NSWICC has delivered the first two face to face sessions of Buying on Country: Equitable Procurement Practices training, bringing together NSW Government staff from a range of departments and disciplines.
Building on the Buying on Country EPP online program, the sessions provided practical guidance to help participants apply equitable procurement practices in their day to day work. Through facilitated discussion, case studies and practical exercises, participants considered how procurement decisions can create genuine opportunities for Indigenous businesses and communities, while maintaining integrity, accountability and compliance.
The EPP program is designed to help government buyers understand and maximise the effective application of the NSW Aboriginal Procurement Policy. It supports NSW Government staff with spend delegation to engage Indigenous businesses confidently, fairly and effectively.
Equitable procurement helps move organisations beyond intent and into practical action. When buyers have the knowledge and tools to identify, engage and support verified Indigenous suppliers, procurement can strengthen supply chains, build meaningful economic participation and deliver better outcomes for communities across New South Wales.
The next face to face sessions will be held on 7 September in Redfern and Parramatta. NSW Government employees with procurement responsibilities or spend delegation are encouraged to take part.
