Driving better procurement outcomes through knowledge and accountability
The NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (NSWICC) is proud to announce that the Buying on Country – Equitable Procurement Practices (EPP) Training Portal is now live.
Developed and delivered by NSWICC under contract to Aboriginal Affairs NSW, this online training program has been designed to strengthen understanding and improve the effective application of the NSW Government’s Aboriginal Procurement Policy (APP). It is approved and recommended for all NSW Government staff with spend delegation.
The EPP training provides practical, real-world guidance on how procurement can be used as a powerful tool to generate sustainable economic opportunities for Indigenous businesses and communities across New South Wales.
Whether staff are:
- using a purchasing card (Pcard) for low-value transactions
- managing direct procurements up to $250,000
- or overseeing large-scale contracts
their decisions play a critical role in shaping equitable outcomes.
Through this training, participants will gain:
- a deeper understanding of the APP and its intent
- practical tools to engage Indigenous businesses with confidence
- strategies to maximise agency spend targets
- insights into delivering meaningful and measurable impact
Importantly, the program reinforces that procurement is not just a compliance exercise—it is a pathway to economic empowerment, self-determination and long-term community benefit.
The training is fully online and self-paced, making it accessible and flexible for busy government professionals.
We encourage all NSW Government staff involved in procurement to complete the training and contribute to more inclusive, informed and impactful purchasing practices.
